New data has revealed the most expensive towns in Norfolk to buy a property - with places in north Norfolk topping the list.

Land Registry Data compiled by Savills looked at towns in Norfolk that had 20 or more sales to find the average cost.

Holt has the most expensive properties with an average sale price of £342,575, over a 12-month period to June 2022. The town had 77 sales during this time frame.

Sheringham follows in second place, with an average price of £318,139 from 125 sales.

In third place is Aylsham, with 72 sales completed at an average price of £315,292.

While having lower average sale prices, Hunstanton, Wymondham and Cromer had a higher number of property sales, with Wymondham being the most in-demand.

Ben Rivett, joint head of residential sales at Savills in Norwich, said: “These figures are averages, so there will be a degree of variation. Some towns, for example, will have homes of a lower value than the average sales price but three or four roads where properties are selling for considerably higher, and vice versa.

"That said, it’s no surprise the towns at the top of the list are in some of the most sought-after areas of the county.

“Despite seeing a slight slowdown in recent months, lifestyle factors continued to drive the market for the first half of this year – with attractive towns that are well connected, have an array of good family housing stock, access to lots of outside space and a choice of amenities appealing to a broad number of buyers.

"This weight of demand – coupled with a shortage of stock – has led to continued year-on-year price growth.

“The towns on this list tick many boxes that buyers have been looking for.

"Holt, Sheringham, Hunstanton and Cromer for example are all close to the coast.

"These are sought-after towns that are well positioned with good connectivity and a range of shops, gastro pubs, bistros, delicatessens, restaurants and leisure facilities.

"Aylsham and Wymondham are also very popular, well-positioned close to the A140 and A11 respectively with plenty of surrounding countryside and easy access into Norwich and the rest of the county. There is also a good range of schools and other amenities."
