The D-Day veteran who turned 100 over the weekend has been reunited with an old childhood friend.
Desmond Stanford, from Walsingham, was surrounded by family over the weekend of December 17 and 18 as they celebrated the former Navy engineer reaching a century.
Mr Stanford received a telegram from King Charles III to congratulate him on his landmark birthday.
He was also presented with his childhood teddy bear, which was restored thanks to his oldest daughter, Heather Lee, who got the priceless bear back up on his feet thanks to a company in Edinburgh.
The cuddly toy was a gift from the whole family and was given to the 100-year-old on December 17, at his home on St Peters Road, by four of his great-grandchildren.
He was surrounded by family, who travelled from across the country to join him for a celebration at the Norton's Café-Bar in the village.
“Loads of tears were shed after the bear was handed over, it was an absolutely brilliant day,” Mrs Lee said.
