The small mid-Norfolk village of Southburgh came alive with culture, colour and melody when it hosted its ninth festival of world music.

More than 600 people headed to the village, near Dereham, to enjoy music from Pakistan, Congo, Uganda, Spain and Hungary, amongst other places, as well as plenty of Norfolk talent.

It was organised by Zimbabwean musician and dancer Anna Mudeka and her team of helpers.

She said: “It’s been really amazing - the best year we’ve had in terms of numbers. Opera singer Emma Nuule left people with goosebumps, Samia Malik offered something completely unusual and the Killamonjambo boys absolutely rocked the place.

“Next year the festival is celebrating its 10th anniversary and it’s going to be really special.”

The festival raised about £3,000 for the Mudeka Foundation, which helps children orphaned through Aids and other disadvantaged youngsters in Zimbabwe.
