The inspection at Scribbles Pre-School which took place last month has resulted in the setting being awarded an outstanding rating across all criteria.

It gave the highest rating for the effectiveness of leadership and management, quality of teaching, learning and assessment, personal development, behaviour and welfare, and outcomes for children.

The report that has just been published said: “Children thrive during their time at the setting and demonstrate that they feel fully secure. They openly communicate and take great pride in their achievements. Children are happy and settle very well.”

Scribbles, based behind the primary school in the village near Dereham, was registered as a childcare provider in 2015 and has 23 children on its roll.

It offers day care for children from the age of three months to five years and a holiday club for children aged three months to 12 years.

It was founded by Debbie Williams, a child development specialist with expertise in pastoral care and special educational needs (SEN).

The report adds: “The manager has a structured and rigorous action plan in place. Areas for improvement are swiftly identified and addressed to ensure continual improvements are being made.

“Children’s safety and well-being are pivotal to practice and staff are all vigilant in their approach to ensuring children in their care are safe and well cared for.”

The inspector also praised the setting’s inspirational and challenging activities.

She noted that the children’s imaginations and sensory exploration was fully endorsed and said that they were able to understand the importance of being kind to one another.

The inspector said the children were extremely well prepared for the next stage of their education.

The report adds: “Children show great enthusiasm and excitement and are eager to join in activities. Children are making rapid progress in their learning, including children in receipt of early years pupil premium.”
