Hundreds of music lovers headed to the North Norfolk coast this weekend as the first ever Deepdale music festival got underway.

With more than 20 acts ranging from rock bands and folk duos to solo artists, street performers and poets, the inaugural event looks like it could soon become a big event in the calenders of music fans and Norfolk residents.

Organiser Jason Borthwich said about 400 people were estimated to attend.

“The sun is shining and it’s a great atmosphere,” he said on Saturday. “We have a lot of people coming in all the time throughout the day and we currently have about 24 bands in the line-up, it is a really, really lovely atmosphere.

“When you plan something like this it is difficult to know what expectations to have. We weren’t sure if we would be able to sell out the campsite and we did, so we are really pleased with how it has gone.

“I think we all together we will welcome about 400 to 450 people over the weekend.”
