This year’s Dereham Christmas lights are set to be switched on by Denver Clinton, a brave young boy from Mattishall battling a rare form of cancer.

The switch on will take place on December 2 and those involved in the event took to Facebook to announce the news.

The Dereham Christmas Lights page announced: “This year a very special little guy will be switching on Dereham’s Christmas Lights.

“Send him lots of positive thoughts.”

Denver has been diagnosed with stage 4 neuroblastoma and has been treated at Addenbrookes Hospital.

He has already undergone intensive treatment including chemotherapy and blood transfusions.

Money is currently being raised by Denver’s family in case they need to access treatment or clinical trials not available on the NHS.

Earlier this year, The Railway Tavern raised money for Denver during their World Cup events and he has also recently had his own garden built for him.
