Success for Dereham baton twirling club

Dereham based Stix Baton Twirlers are celebrating after recent success in the BBTSA Region 15 Open Championships in Lowestoft.

Eighteen athletes from the club competed in the competition on September 8.

In the Freestyle Pairs Juvenile category Aisha and Aimee finished in third and Keira and Layla clinched second place.

In the Juvenile Freestyle Solos Aisha finished tenth, eighth was Aimee L, seventh was Keira and fifth was Layla.

In the senior division Aimee R came sixth.

A team from the club finished first in the Twirl Challenge and third place was also secured in the Dance Twirl Challenge.

The pom teams also achieved success with first and third place finishes.

Stix Baton Twirlers was established in 2013 and take part in regional, area and national competitions in individual and team events.

Athletes learn baton twirling skills using one, two or three batons while incorporating dance, gymnastics and ballet.
