Two separate events will celebrate the history of Burnham Norton Friary later this month.

A concert will take place on Sunday September 16 at Burnham Norton Friary and St Margaret’s Church which will feature the song of the Carmelite Friars, as well as music with a more contemporary resonance.

The music will be performed by the Come and Sing Company as well as the local choristers.

A separate historical pageant event will also take place on Saturday September 22, starting at the school at 6pm and lasting until 8pm.

The event will also include singing and performance and is free to attend.

Burnham Norton was the fourth Carmelite house in England and the first in Norfolk.

The friary has benefited from a £74,700 Heritage Lottery Fund grant to fund a programme of archaeological test pits in gardens and fields outside the scheduled monument area to find out more about the development of the sites.
