A former soldier has been nominated for professional driver of the year for his work as a chauffeur.

Chris Cockerell, chauffeur manager at Near and Far Chauffeurs in Fakenham, is one of 11 on the shortlist for the prize at the Professional Driver magazine Qsi awards.

Mr Cockerell said he felt great pride to be in the running for the award and said it was good for a Norfolk firm to be competing against national rivals.

The company as a whole
has previously won silver
awards for best new chauffeur business and chauffeur business of the year and will be hoping to add the individual prize to its haul.

The firm has also tasted success at the EDP Bride: The Wedding Awards where it topped the exceptional customer service category.

The winner will be announced at a black-tie ceremony at Effingham Park Hotel, near Gatwick, on Thursday.

Near and Far offers airport and wedding hire services.
