Fakenham College is celebrating a rise of 3pc in the pass rates of A* to C grades.

This figure this year is 76.1pc and was 73.2pc last year.

The A-level A* to E pass rate is 99pc, the same as last year while AS-level pass rate from A to C was 51pc, 1pc down on last year and AS-level A to E was 86pc, up 2pc on last year.

Matthew Parr-Burman, head teacher at Fakenham High School and College, said: “I’m really pleased with that 3pc jump.

“We have seen a steady improvement in results here over the last seven years and it is good to see that is continuing.

“It is all down to the hard work of the students and the staff and over the last year we have been really focused on tracking students and quickly identify what we can do to push them on.

“I think what is different about Fakenham College is that we have a low entry rate than many other local colleges, meaning we will accept students from all levels and backgrounds and then do what we can to ensure they can do the best they can possibly do.

“We do also have some very gifted students who have achieved excellent grades.”

Amongst the highest performers at Fakenham College was Conor Bacon, 18, who achieved A* grades in his A-levels in maths, further maths, physics and chemistry and is now set to study theoretical physics at Edinburgh University.

He said: “I’ve had a great time at Fakenham College and I’ve had fantastic support from the teachers.”
