The Fakenham Society will begin its 2018/19 season of talks in October.

The new season starts with a talk by Susan Wild who will discuss her grandfather Sam Peel, who oversaw the reorganisation of post-war education in the county and laid the foundations for the National Health Service in north Norfolk.

The event on Thursday 4 October will begin at 7.30pm and also includes talks from Julian Whybra, who will talk about the Shakespeare conspiracy, Megan Dennis, curator at Gressenhall Farm and Workhouse, and Phylidda Scrivens, who will discuss the lady lord mayors of Norwich.

The event will take place in the Lancaster Room at the Fakenham Sports Centre, on the site of the racecourse complex.

On February 7 next year the society will also welcome Elly Griffiths, who will be talking about her famous creation, and Ruth Galloway, a forensic archaeologist.
