Into the Light by Jon Clifton is a celebration and meditation on the beauty of the natural landscape and a chance to reflect on positive times.

It not only illustrates the beauty of the north Norfolk coast, it also documents what was a transitional period for the 40-year-old.

Following a turbulent period in his life and a move from London to Norfolk, photography and the Norfolk coast became a source of therapy, helping him to restore and recover his mental wellbeing.

The photographs span a seven-year period from 2011 to 2018 featuring landscapes, the sea and the big Norfolk skies.

All of the photographs were taken in north and west Norfolk and highlight the beauty and isolation of this part of the world. Snettisham, Brancaster, Thornham, Hunstanton and many other areas of natural beauty are showcased.

Mr Clifton, who lives in the Snettisham area, said: “Holkham, Wells and Snettisham are favourite spots. I love it because it’s so peaceful and a brilliant part of the country.”

Into the Light presents full page, landscape, colour and monochrome images in a hardback presentation.

More than 100 sponsors supported its production and Mr Clifton, who works in London as a sound technician, wanted them to be ‘part of the art’. They all chose a name to be printed in the book, which raised over £300 for a local mental health charity.

He hopes the book will give people the opportunity to reflect on the natural beauty of nature and the area. He also hopes the images will help others in the way they have helped him and allow them a moment of peace and a knowledge that, if you are going through difficult times, things can and do get better.

Visitors to Mr Clifton’s website www.joncliftonphotography.com can pre-order signed copies. The book has an official publication date of October 6. It will also be available in shops along the coast and from Mr Clifton himself, at the various craft and gift events he attends.
