Despite jelly-legs and blistering heat three friends who are running as many marathons in a year as they can for charity completed the 100km race across north Norfolk.

Jacqueline Lake, who is the Norfolk Coroner, and friends Charlie Harwood and Dave Utley took part in the challenge in aid of the Norfolk Renal Fund, which provides support for patients in the county.

The route on Saturday, June 10, started at Castle Acre and ended in Beeston Regis, and took about 15 hours.

It encompassed cliffs, sand and shingle and Mrs Lake said: “The four miles from Cley, crossing the shingle beach before reaching Weybourne Hope, were the toughest.

“We were three of the 42 runners to complete the Norfolk 100km race. It also meant that Charlie and I were two of the few runners to have completed The Positive Steps Ltd Grand Slam: King’s Forest 50km 2016, Peddars Way 2017 and Norfolk 100km.”
