Trinity College Cambridge first revealed plans to build on the northern outskirts of the town in 2009.

Today it has emerged that an outline planning application is being drawn up for the development, which also includes a new primary school, hotel, retail and employment space.

A public consultation is being launched today over what sort of houses should be built on the site off Rudham Stile Lane, south of the A149 bypass.

A notice in our sister paper the Fakenham and Wells Times says: “Trinity College Cambridge is seeking comments on the proposals for the site, in particular the layout and design, the type of housing, public open space and community facilities proposed.”

It says space including children’s playgrounds, recreation areas, allotments will be provided, along with new roads and bus stops.

The land has been allocated by North Norfolk council for to provide space for new homes, employment and community facilities.

The development is also likely to bring hundreds of construction, building and decorating jobs to Fakenham and a boost to the local economy once work gets under way.

More details of the development and response for the consultation can be found online here.

Comments can also be sent by post to Grove Gardens Consultation, c/o Define, Unit 6, 133/137 Newhall Street, Birmingham B3 1SF.
