It is a job like no other.

And those who work for the region’s ambulance service are on call 24 hours a day, 365 days a year to deliver services to those in need of emergency medical treatment and transport.

Covering six counties, the demand faced by East of England Ambulance Trust (EEAST) is on the rise every year.

The trust covers 7,500 square miles, with a population of more than 5.8m people - and its staff are on the frontline in the most dire of situations, often faced with decisions surrounding life or death.

EDP health correspondent Geraldine Scott is hopping on board one of EEAST’s 357 ambulances today (Monday) and joining one crew to find out what a day in their lives really looks like.
