Man dies in A47 Scarning crash

A man has died after a three-vehicle crash on the A47 at Scarning which blocked the road overnight.

The crash happened at 7.50pm on Saturday, September 30, just outside Dereham, close to Cattle Arch Farm.

It took place on the Norwich-bound road which was closed between the A1075 and A1065 until about 5am on Sunday, October 1.

A Norfolk Police control room supervisor confirmed a man had died in the accident and his next of kin had been informed.

The victim had been in a blue Vauxhall Vectra at the time which crashed into a silver Vauxhall Zafira.

The Vauxhall Zafira went on to collide with a white Mercedes, according to the control room supervisor.

He added a woman and child were in the Vauxhall Zafira at the time and taken to hospital but described their condition as “fine”.

Police officers, paramedics from the East of England Ambulance Service Trust, firefighters and Norfolk Accident Rescue Service critical care paramedic Carl Smith were called.

The East Anglian Air Ambulance was also scrambled to the scene.

Officers from the Norfolk Police serious collision unit are investigating the crash.

Witnesses or anyone with information should contact the team on 101.
