An angling match held in memory of a keen fisherman raised £551 for the Cromer RNLI.

More than 65 people attended the event in April to fish against each other and net the heaviest catch at Reepham Fisheries.

Jim Randell had been a keen angler as well as a supporter of the RNLI and his family decided the competition would raise money to support two causes - the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital critical care unit and Cromer RNLI.

Barbara Randell visited Cromer RNLI to donate £551, which was half the total raised, which will go towards the general running costs of the station.

Paul Watling, Cromer RNLI station mechanic, said a plaque will be put on the wall in the station entrance with Mr Randell’s details on it.

He said: “With the wonderful support of families and their donations, the RNLI is able to maintain the 24-hour cover to all who need it.”
