Chance of more snow in Norfolk before temperatures drop to -5C

Parts of Norfolk could see further wintry showers today before temperatures plummet overnight.

The region woke up to covering of snow this morning with some places seeing 10cm of the white stuff.

And now forecasters have warned of freezing temperatures tonight before milder conditions by the end of the week.

MORE: Drivers warned of delays after snow falls across Norfolk

Some parts of the county were hit with several centimetres of snow this morning, with the area between Fakenham and Norwich seeing between 5cm and 10cm.

There were also reports of coverings in the west of the county and around Attleborough but coastal areas only saw a slight dusting.

And in Suffolk many areas had 1cm to 2cm of snow.

Adam Dury, of Norwich-based Weatherquest, said some places will see more wintry showers before clearer skies move in tonight.

“There will be more wintry showers into the afternoon before clearer conditions move in,” he said. “This will lead to a very cold night with temperatures widely dropping to -3C and some places may even see -5C.

“Temperatures will start to rise by 6am tomorrow morning and there is a chance of spits and spots of rain. Conditions will then turn milder.”

He also ruled out the chance of further snow fall later in the week.

Police had warned motorists to “slow down and drive to the conditions” this morning after reports of crashes and there were long delays on many roads including the A47 and A11.
