Students at Dereham’s Neatherd High School have welcomed the mystery-adventure author Helen Moss to their school library.

Mrs Moss visited the school on Thursday, October 12, and spent the day with students.

She ran four workshops during the visit, and signed books for pupils at lunchtime.

The author also gave a unique and insightful talk on her books and writing process to the whole of year seven, before the creative writing workshops for enthusiastic year seven and year eight classes.

Students found the sessions, titled ‘Dangerous Writing’ engaging and fun.

They learned how to delve deeper into an initial idea.focus on detail, and use their senses.

Neatherd’s librarian, Lorraine Gill, said: “Our students are always very excited to meet authors in person.”

She added: “Helen’s visit was the first in a whole series, including Holly Smale, author of Geek Girl.”
