The documentary is best known for travelling to unexplored and hard to reach corners of the globe, but this week’s episode sees scenes shot a little closer to home in the meadows of Norfolk.

Footage was taken from grasslands across the county including Pensthorpe Nature Reserve in Fakenham

The location was chosen because of Norfolk’s conservation groups which are releasing harvest mice back into the wild.

During the episode a harvest mouse is filmed climbing to the top of its grassland canopy using it’s prehensile tail which David Attenborough says “is just like having a fifth limb so it is as agile as monkey.”

Whilst feeding on the flower heads at the top of the grass a barn owl is seen swooping around the meadow.

But the harvest mouse is just to quick for the predator and uses its tail to swing down to the ground.

The Grasslands episode also looks at Asia’s saiga antelope, anteaters in Brazil and lions battling buffalos in the fludded Okavango in Botswana.

You can watch the episode at 8pm on BBC One.
