Nearly 12,000 bulbs burst into life when the village rector performed North Creake’s sixth annual Christmas lights switch-on.

A Christmas tree and all the natural trees spread across the village green were draped with lights this year thanks to a huge fundraising effort by the north Norfolk community.

The spectacular array took many hours of hard work to install but provided an bright and unusual twinkling fringe alongside the main roadn.

Chairman of the lights committee Nigel Slegg said they had bought another 2,500 lights this year.

Parish council chairman Adam Bunkle thanked the community for its generosity having donated around £1,000 to the event this year.

A raffle on the night added to the fund which enabled the committee to buy presents for Father Christmas to hand out to all the village youngsters who attended the event.

Before turning on the lights Fr Wylie blessed the tree and reminded the large crowd of the importance of Christmas.
