Courage Noble, on King Street, Norwich, is opening its doors to men, women a children on Monday, June 19, in a bid to raise £1,200 for Henry Vinen.

The Shipdham infant has Severe Combined Immunodeficiency, meaning his body cannot fight the simplest of infections because of a faulty immune system.

In order to reach his first birthday, he needs a bone marrow transplant and his 18-month-old brother Oscar is being investigated as a potential match.

Henry’s parents, Maria and Stuart, a customer at Courage Noble, are trying to raise £30,000 through a Crowdfunding page to fund his 24-hour care before a transplant can happen.

All of the takings from the Haircuts for Henry fundraiser, as well as sales of products and takings from a bucket collection, will go towards the Crowdfunding page.

Simon Buller, Courage Noble director, said: “I have an 18-month-old girl, and two boys aged seven and six so Henry’s story touched a raw nerve. We want to raise as much money as possible.

“The response from customers so far for the Haircuts for Henry day has been amazing so far. I cannot thank them enough. They have already donated £200.

“Stuart is incredible and so calm about the situation. He is poised and focussed on getting Henry better.”

Mr Buller, 38, from Taverham, added the ethos of the new business was to support the local community.

He will be joined by three other barbers on the Haircuts for Henry day - Rob Loxam, Guy Jarrett and Brandon Horner.

Mr Loxam, 32, from Norwich, has been cutting Mr Vinen’s hair for two years and described his friend’s situation as “heart-breaking”.

Mr Vinen, 39, a science lecturer at City College Norwich, described the Courage Noble initiative as “absolutely phenomenal”.

Haircuts for Henry is happening from 8am-5pm and spaces are available for afternoon cuts. People should book appointments via www.couragenoble.com or calling 01603 958493. Anyone can support the event on the day.
