A pilot of a plane which ended up in a hedge after landing in Norfolk has blamed the accident on the wind direction.

The 62-year-old pilot landed at Foxborough Farm Airstrip and caused damage to his plane’s propellor, wheel, and right wing in the crash.

A report published by the Air Accident Investigation Branch states: “The pilot took off for a local flight.”

Prior to landing back at the airstrip he asked the surface wind at Norwich Airport.”

Norwich air traffic control informed the pilot, who has more than 900 hours of flying experience, that the wind was coming from one direction.

However, on his descent, he felt that “the aircraft floated longer than normal”.

He applied the brakes and the aircraft skipped forward 15ft. The pilot pitched the aircraft onto its nose, and the aircraft came to rest in a low boundary hedge.

The accident occurred on Saturday, June 17, at 6.30pm. There were no passengers and only the pilot on board.
