Police are investigating reports a woman was allegedly raped at a bus stop in Cromer.

Officers were called at about 11.30pm on Friday (August 18) night after a woman in her late teens reported being raped at a bus stop on Cadogan Road by two men.

A police officer stood guard at the site most of Saturday. However, the police tape was removed around 10pm after a forensic officer examined the scene.

One business owner near the bus station, who did not wish to be named, said: “The police have been there all day and they’ve been going around all of the shops asking if anyone has seen anything.”

Officers are keen to hear from anyone who was in the area around the time of the incident and may have information relevant to the enquiry. Anyone with information should call police on 101.

While not linked, the incident appears to be one of many that have taken place in the town. There have been various disturbances reported overnight, which have affected pubs and businesses.

Jeremy Garner from Cromer social club said: “We did have an incident where we had to call the police. There was a large group of people that piled into the pub, no-one was hurt and luckily nothing was broken.”
