A film which brings to life the story of the famous military and political leader Napoleon Bonaparte is to be screened in Wells.

The event will be hosted by Screen-next-the-Sea and feature a restored print of the 1927 silent film with a full symphonic score by film composer Carl Davis.

The film has been restored and pieced together by Oscar-winning historian Kevin Brownlow, who will also be at the screening to give an insight into the many years he spent restoring the complete film.

Joolz Saunders, a member of the Screen-next-the-Sea team, said: “It is a fabulous story of both the events themselves as Napoleon’s life unfolds, and also the story of how Kevin Brownlow spent a lifetime putting together pieces of film to produce this absolute masterpiece of cinematic film.”

It will take place at the Alderman Peel High School on November 19 at 1.30pm. Tickets for adults will be £15 and students will be £10.
