Former players Darren Huckerby, Ryan and Rossi Jarvis and Robert Fleck took part in the Aldiss Park game in support of the Royal British Legion (RBL).

They were pitted against a team from the 1st The Queen’s Dragoon Guards, in a fixture organised by Paul Sandford from the town’s Railway Tavern pub.

Mr Sandford said the match had raised over £700 for the Dereham branch of the RBL.

He added organisers were planning to make the match an annual event.

He said: “It went really well and we are still counting the money.

“We had 170 people come through the turnstile - a great turnout from footballers and supporters.

“We only had ten days to sort the whole thing out.”

Mr Sandford added that the match was won 5 - 2 by the Dereham ‘Allstars’.
