About 200 people took a trip down memory lane at a north Norfolk railway society’s steam engine running and beer festival.

The special event was held to celebrate the Whitwell and Reepham Railway Preservation Society’s nine years of being open to the public and to raise money for the charity.

Nanette Parfitt, membership secretary, said: “We have got one engine in a siding, called Victory, which dates back to 1945. We took passengers along the half-mile track and some visitors drove the engine.

“We have the steam engine running event on the first Sunday of the month. We were also going to steam the engine on Saturday as well, as it was our anniversary, but it was too cold.

“We opened on February 28, 2009. That day was also 50 years after the station closed in 1959.

“We have also had about 12 beers on, including the delicious Plum Porter and Mad Goose.”
