Superb archive pictures shine spotlight on our railway history

To many people, trains are far more than simply a convenient mode of transport. They are an integral part of our history.
These pictures from our archives will, doubtless, inspire fond recollections for many of our readers.

Pictured here is the DMU excursion train organised by the Wymondham, Dereham and Fakenham Railway Action Committee under the Dereham bypass at Yaxham road during the early 1980s.
Finally, problems with railway service closures are also not a recent development.
