The clean-up may have only just started but organisers of the annual Fakenham beer festival are already planning ahead for next year’s event.

Lisa Mallett, who organises the festival with her husband Glen, said the sixth festival was the best yet, with a ukelele band proving one of the highlights.

This year’s event was renamed the Fakenham Gin and Beerfest, due to the involvement of the town’s Norfolk Sloe Company, which held the festival’s first gin and cocktail bar last year.

Mrs Mallett said: “It went really well and was very popular - a lot better than previous years.

“Renaming it the Fakenham gin and beerfest brought in a lot of ladies.

“We are already looking forward to next year’s event which will be at the same time.

“One of the highlights was the Fakenham Ukes - 17 ukelele players. They had never done it before and I think they were brilliant. They played all the songs that people know, and I hope they are back next year.”

The three-day festival, which ended on Sunday, March 26, was held at Fakenham community centre, and featured live music and a wide range of beers.

The amount of money raised for the community centre from the event is not yet known.
