Up to 10,000 people from around the country are spending the weekend on the picturesque Houghton Hall estate, near Fakenham, at the Glade Festival.

The four-day event - which started on Thursday - opened on the Meteor Stage, a specially built underground performance venue located inside a crater in the woodland area of the hall’s grounds, with speakers placed underneath the floor.

A festival spokesman said: “We expect 10,000 partygoers on site. The atmosphere is fun, friendly and relaxed. With over 14 stages and some amazing artists such as Pretty Lights, Mosca, and Vitalic, tonight will see Glade really take off.”

The event began in 2004 from the roots of the Glastonbury Festival, and is an arts festival that specialises in dance and electronic music, but with a “fantastical twist.”

As well as the Meteor Stage, the other highlight this year is the Pyromid Stage which will host a number of acts, and will then be burnt to the ground on Saturday night.

Lord Cholmondeley, who owns Houghton Hall, said: “We are delighted to be hosting the Glade Festival again this year. Everyone who attended last year seemed to have a lot of fun. I know we did.”

As well as music, attendees this year will also enjoy various art installations, a relaxation area, and an extensive food court. Other headlining acts include Sven Vath, Andy C and Rusko.

A limited number of tickets can be purchased at the gate, or for advance ticket sales and more information please visit www.gladefestival.com.
