Norfolk police have warned trick or treaters about the risk of being perceived as anti-social or intimidating.

And as Halloween approaches, Norfolk residents have been asked to display posters telling trick-or-treaters if they are welcome.

The posters are available to download from the Norfolk Police website.

Chief Superintendent Mike Fawcett said: “We hope people will take a responsible attitude to Halloween.

“It is important that everyone understands the consequences of irresponsible behaviour.

“If you are planning to go out trick or treating, make sure you only visit those who are happy to take part and respect residents who do not want to be disturbed.”

Police have said the damage from egg throwing will be treated as criminal and those caught may be prosecuted.

They have also encouraged retailers in the region to restrict the sale of eggs and flour to young people in the run up to Halloween.
