The EDP is to put a special focus on mental health and well-being in a unique special edition of the newspaper.

As part of our ongoing Mental Health Watch campaign, next Tuesday’s paper will be specially devoted to the issue and guest edited by leading expert Natasha Devon MBE.

Our special Mental Health and Wellbeing Takeover edition will devote its attentions to where we are currently at as a society in terms of understanding people’s problems and helping them, offer practical and easy to use tips and feature a host of guest columnists.

The main theme of the project will be to break the narrative which often fills the heads of those with poor mental health, by telling those across the region that you are not alone, even when it may feel like it.

The newspaper will also still include all the usual news, features, business, sport and more.

Meanwhile, visit our website edp24.co.uk through the day on Monday to see a Facebook Live debate on mental health, read other people’s views and take part in a special survey.

MORE: Who is the EDP’s mental health and wellbeing takeover guest editor Natasha Devon MBE?

Ms Devon MBE will spend the day in our newsroom, helping to carefully craft our special edition. Natasha is a writer, campaigner and co-founder of the award-winning Self-Esteem Team, which teaches young people, teachers and parents about mental health, body image and self-esteem. She was also the Department for Education’s children’s mental health tsar.

She said: “I am hoping that in guest editing the EDP I can make the paper solutions-focussed.

“The untold mental health stories are the ones that explore how people recovered, what they use to manage their conditions and the fantastic things they are still able to do and achieve.

“One of my aims as a campaigner has been to give mental illness a less frightening public face. I’m really excited about working with the EDP to bring what I hope will be a message of hope.”

We want to invite our readers to get involved and share their stories. We would like you to tell us about your mental health journey, your top tips for coping, and to share your message to those who may be going through similar experiences.

• To share your story, email geraldine.scott@archant.co.uk - be sure to include a photo of yourself.

• We are also inviting businesses to show their support and become a commercial sponsor of the special edition. If you are interested please email editor david.powles@archant.co.uk
