Confidence is flying high for Harleston Town as they aim to seal their place in the club’s first Norfolk Senior Cup final tonight – and extend their 11-game winning streak.

The south Norfolk side take a break from the Anglian Combination Premier Division title battle to try and cause an upset when they face Fakenham Town in the semi-finals tonight.

“It’s a big game for us and the club as a whole, if you can’t enjoy games like this then you’re not going to appreciate any, it’s a great game for us,” he said.

“It was a bit of a quiet game at the weekend because we had nine away on a stag weekend, so that’s been quite good preparation for us because some of the boys who will probably play have had a bit of a rest, so that will be good to keep us going.”

Harleston can take further confidence from having beaten another step five club, Great Yarmouth Town, on route to the semi-final.

“We have players of that level and higher who know the requirements to play at that standard,” Gusterson continued.

“The Yarmouth game (a 2-1 win) we can take confidence from because we played well and more than matched them. It will be the same with Fakenham, they’re a good side to watch so it should be a good standard but we’re full of confidence so we can give it a good go.”

The Ghosts are 14th in the Thurlow Nunn Premier Division and manager Wayne Anderson is happy with the way his young squad is developing.

“Everything is moving forward at Fakenham,” he said. “There are a lot of volunteers who work really hard. We don’t have a big budget by any means but we do have players who want to play for the club and a lot of young players who have come up and are pushing on.”

Anderson knows all about a cup final – he played at Carrow Road for King’s Lynn in the Senior Cup and went to Wembley with Sudbury for the FA Vase final.

“I have no doubt there will be a few nerves,” he said. “But we came in for extra training on Monday night and we are all dead keen to get out there and show what we can do.”

The match is being played at the Football Development Centre in Bowthorpe, with entry costing £5 for adults and £3 for concessions.
