Kimberley Morrison maintained her strong form with a podium place in scorching heat at Ironman 70.3 Staffordshire.

Two weeks after finishing sixth at the Challenge Championship in Slovakia the 29-year-old, from Bale, near Fakenham, finished third back on home shores.

Morrison finished the swim in second place in the elite women’s category after completing the 1.9km course in 28.07 minutes.

The Tri-Anglia member’s strength on the bike shone through once again, taking the lead and completing the 90km cycle in two hours, 29 minutes and 13 seconds. That saw Morrison set off on the 21.1km run with a 45-second lead over Lucy Gossage however the Cambridge athlete and Nikki Bartlett took control, to leave the Norfolk ace third in a time of 04:40.14 hours.

The podium place added to Morrison winning Ironman 70.3 Texas and second place at Ironman 70.3 Buenos Aires earlier this year.
