Thetford Town were given a golden opportunity to reach the Norfolk Senior Cup final at Carrow Road when they were drawn at home to the competition’s minnows, Norwich St Johns.
The Ridgeons League Division One table-toppers, who beat Premier Division pace-setters Wroxham 2-1 last weekend, will be hot favourites against Anglian Combination Premier Division outfit St Johns, who three seasons ago were in junior football.
Gorleston, who booked their place in the last four by beating Diss after a replay, were drawn away to the winners of Tuesday night’s quarter-final between King’s Lynn and Norwich City Reserves at the Walks (ko 7.45). But if Norwich go through the game will be held at Emerald Park as the Canaries have forfeited home advantage.
The semi-finals will be played on February 18 (ko 2).

This is written as if Thetford are a sure bet to get to the final and a bit derogatory to the Anglian Combination. I would back a Premier Anglian Comb side to beat a Ridgeons Div 1 side 9 times out of 10. Good luck to St Johns in the semi. Thetford would do well to not underestimate this decent side.
