The hugely popular Great British Prom is returning to Blickling Hall next summer, in a special celebration marking 100 years of the Royal Air Force.

A top notch musical programme from the internationally renowned National Symphony Orchestra will include William Walton’s Spitfire Prelude and Fugue and Eric Coates’s Dambusters March, with other Proms favourites ranging from Rule Britannia and Jerusalem, to Land of Hope and Glory.

The concert, which will close with a spectacular choreographed firework display over the lake, will also feature a flypast by a WW2 Spitfire.

The Great British Prom, which was held for the first time in 2012, has been drawing 5,000-strong crowds every year since.

It is organised by Revival Productions founders Lisa Ward and Katherine Brindley, who will also be hosting a Classic Ibiza concert at Blickling next summer.

The pair, who stage similar events all over the country, came up with the idea of celebrating the centenary of the RAF as part of next year’s Prom.

Ms Ward said the aim was to pay tribute to the “huge national respect for the RAF” and the part Norfolk has played in its history.

She added: “The 2018 event is going to be very special - not just because we’re celebrating the RAF centenary - but also because we will be seeing the return of a Spitfire to the programme, which always delights the crowd.”

The National Symphony Orchestra, which has played across genres ranging from classical, film and TV, to West End and Broadway musicals, will be conducted by Anthony Inglis, who is music director for singing star Katherine Jenkins and music supervisor and consultant to the West End show Phantom of the Opera.

Ms Ward said: “As well as enjoying free parking for both coaches and cars, guests can bring picnics and champagne, wave their flags, sing along and soak up the atmosphere with friends in the outstanding Blickling Hall setting and, once again, there will be a magnum of champagne on offer for the best fancy dress costume.”

The Great British Prom runs at Blickling Hall on 11 August 2018. A limited number of early bird tickets are now available at a reduced price of £32.50 (£37.50 thereafter). For more information and tickets visit www.greatbritishprom.co.uk or call the event box office on 01283 841601.
