An event which tore apart a Norfolk community will be recreated for audiences this month.

Miss Reeve’s Battle recounts the devastating moment in 1942 when six Breckland villages were evacuated at short notice, to make way for an Army battle training area.

Eight hundred villagers lost their homes, never to return.

Miss Reeve’s Battle tells the story of this devastating event and the impact on one woman in particular – Lucilla Reeve, a land agent, farmer, dowser, writer, broadcaster and stalwart of the community which was changed for ever. Georgette Vale plays the role of Miss Reeve in the production at Beachamwell Village Hall.

The event will take place on Thursday March 22 at 7.30pm.

The recreation is organised by the Beachamwell Local History Group.

Tickets are £3, available from 01366 328536 or on the door on the night.

For more information about the event, visit www.beachamwell.org.uk.

‘Into Thin Air’ by Rob John is a new play presented by fEAST Theatre. It played to a packed house at Wells Maltings Theatre Wednesday evening. I imagine that the ‘bush telegraph’ from other venues where this play had been was in operation for there was not a spare seat in the house.

Take one heritage railway, mix in some fear, add a dash of terror and a splash of every phobia going for good measure, and you’ve got the perfect recipe for a night on the Horror Train.
