An RAF museum in Norfolk has been named one of the nation's best for aviation - capping off a soaring year.
RAF Sculthorpe Heritage Centre was named the third-best aviation museum at the Airscene Awards 2022.
It finished third behind the RAF Museum Midlands and Duxford Imperial War Museum.
On the podium finish, museum curator Ian Brown said: "We are never going to compete with those above us, but to finish above many who are much bigger puts a bow on a pretty good year for us.”
Last year the centre enjoyed a terrific year, securing a new home, welcoming the BBC show Bargain Hunt, and even hosting the late Queen Elizabeth II.
But staff are not resting on their laurels, with plans to open a new exhibition next month featuring parts of a B29 aircraft which crashed while travelling back to Sculthorpe from Manchester in 1949.
The display will include the aircraft’s 50-calibre machine guns and engine components.
