One of the region’s beaches was shown off on Saturday night television - as it featured on ITV’s The Masked Singer.

People across Norfolk tuning into the show on January 14 would have recognised the landscape during Jellyfish’s ‘clue’ video, as the iconic beach huts were the backdrop.

The show, which screens on ITV 1 on Saturday nights features an array of celebrities singing but donning costumes to hide their identity - leaving it up to the panel, and people at home, to work out whose behind the mask.

Once the section was aired, people took to the Wells forum Facebook page to ask others if their guess of Wells beach was correct.

One person wrote - “Does anyone watch The Masked Singer?! We are sure that Jellyfish’s clue packages are filmed on Wells beach?!”

They found a number of people with the same hunch - while others confirmed that it was Holkham Beach, with stories from September last year, and even some photos.

Another individual commented - “Someone was filming on Wells beach a few months back because the “runner” went into Wells Deli for coffees for the crew.”

Someone else added: “It was filmed in September 2022. I asked the cameraman and he said couldn’t say much but it was for a 2023 entertainment program, Jellyfish was kept top secret. From Salty Dog beach hut with binoculars, we couldn’t see who she was, kept very under wraps.”

Zoe Dunford was there on the day but does not watch the show.

She was at the beach cleaning up one of the huts she rents out after it had been used.

“There’s often filming taking place on the beach, which is understandable, because it’s such a beautiful setting,” she said.

“This was one of the more unusual set-ups I’ve seen. I thought it was perhaps for a student art project, except the steady cam looked like an expensive bit of kit.

“As well as the jellyfish, there were tentacles draped from one of the beach huts owned by the Holkham estate.”

Jellyfish remains in the competition - with judges Jonathan Ross, Rita Ora, Davina McCall and Mo Gilligan, having a range of guesses of who was behind the mask - with Kelly Clarkson and Janet Jackson among those believed to be the singer.

We will have to wait to see which famous face visited the beach when Jellyfish is unmasked.
