Residents in a market town are being offered the chance to access high-speed broadband.

LightSpeed Broadband, a full-fibre broadband provider, has announced that homes and businesses in Fakenham can now connect to its network.

LightSpeed’s full-fibre network is available in six towns in Norfolk.

Homes and businesses in King's Lynn, Hunstanton, Dereham, Downham Market, Fakenham and Thetford have access to symmetrical upload and download speeds of up to one gigabit (1000 Mbps) per second.

Norfolk County councillor Tom FitzPatrick, who represents the town and is county cabinet member for innovation, transformation and performance said: “I am delighted that residents in Fakenham can further access gigabit broadband and take advantage of improved connectivity and access to digital services.

“LightSpeed’s commitment to the east of England ensures that Norfolk remains at the forefront of modern technology and helps achieve our goal that our smaller towns do not get left behind and share in these benefits.”

Committed to transforming communities with gigabit-capable fibre to premises, LightSpeed Broadband started building its fibre network across South Lincolnshire and West Norfolk last year.

LightSpeed’s network builds, management and customer service teams are all based at its headquarters in Spalding, South Lincolnshire.

Jason Coward, chief commercial officer at LightSpeed Broadband, said: “We are thrilled that customers in Fakenham can now connect to our full-fibre network and experience the benefits of the latest digital gigabit broadband.

"As a regionally based internet service provider, we are very proud of how our service has been received and the opportunities this digital connectivity will bring to residents, businesses and the wider economy across the east of England.

“Residents are encouraged to register to be the first to hear when their home or business can access the network.”

LightSpeed’s price freeze promises that costs will not rise during or at the end of any contract.

The monthly cost of a package is £24.95 for 100mbps on a 24-month contract. A one-gigabit service is priced at £39.95 for the same length of time.
