Several planned roadworks and road closures are taking place across Norfolk this month.

Major schemes are set to disrupt key roads including the A47 and the A149.

Here are some of the major roadworks to be aware of for the rest of January.

1. A47 between Dereham and Swaffham

A large section of the A47 is to be closed nearly every weeknight at Necton for essential works.

The major road will be shut between the Toftwood junction in Dereham and the Norwich Road roundabout in Swaffham.

This closure will be in both directions running from 8pm overnight until 6am.

2. A149 Wells Road

The A149 Wells Road is closed for two weeks while essential roadworks are carried out.

The road is closed in the village of Burnham Overy Staithe in north Norfolk until January 19.

Fully signed diversion routes are in place while the works are completed.

3. Dereham Road

The next phase of a major improvement scheme to the road has begun causing further closures and restrictions on the city corridor.

There will be a complete lane closure on the eastbound carriageway of Dereham Road, from the roundabout to Gurney Road, until July 26 which is "likely" to cause delays.

4. Works in Long Stratton

A series of temporary road closures around Long Stratton are taking place to remove traffic on the A140 from the town centre.

Church Lane, Edge Lane, Hall Lane, Parkers Lane and a layby on the A140 will all be intermittently closed from January 8 until March 29.

Diversion routes and temporary road closure plans are also available on request.

5. Queens Roads

Work started this week on a £1m revamp of the city centre ring road

The project includes a new bus lane on Queens Road for vehicles turning into the bus station as well as new road markings on the Chapelfield Road approach to the St Stephens roundabout.

Phase one of the project is taking place until January 29 with the widening of the carriageway into the central reservation along Queens Road and the straightening of the existing staggered pedestrian crossing.

The outside lane for eastbound and westbound traffic on Queens Road between the St Stephens roundabout and the bus station entrance will be closed during this time.

Three-way temporary traffic signals will be in place at the Queens Road junction with the bus station access road for the duration of the work.
