A village with just 40 permanent residents is doing its bit to promote sustainable living later this month.

Burnham Deepdale is taking part in an international green event with Deepdale Backpackers and Camping's second annual event North Norfolk Coast Earth day on April 22.

It is free to visitors and has more than 30 exhibitors people can talk to inside the barns of Deepdale Farm and around the hostel and campsite.

There will also be talks and guided tours of the eco-friendly holiday accommodation at Deepdale.

Exhibitors include companies that provide renewable technologies, advisors, conservation organisations and pressure groups with information about everything from solar panels, wind turbines, insulating your home and encouraging wildlife into your garden to organic fruit and veg, composting and many other aspects of sustainable living.

The Energy Saving Trust will be giving out energy saving light bulbs to those who fill out their questionnaires.

Other energy and money saving advice will be available around the site during the day.

Norfolk Green who run the highly successful Coasthopper bus service, that connects the rest of the world to Burnham Deepdale, will be bringing one of their eco-friendly coast hopper buses.

Norfolk's Master Composters will be giving advice about getting the most out of your compost heap.

Norfolk County Council and West Norfolk Borough Council will be explaining the waste and environmental services they provide. Norfolk Coast Partnership, who manage the Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty along the north Norfolk coast, will be explaining what they do and grants that may be available.

It runs from 10am to 4pm. Refreshments will be available.
