An illustrated talk on the last flying Vulcan aircraft takes place at the Amy Robsart Village Hall in Syderstone next month.
Howard Scotter, regional fundraising organiser of the Vulcan to the Sky Club, will speak about the iconic RAF bomber and how Vulcan XH558 was returned to flying condition, on Saturday, April 25 from 7.30pm-9.30pm.
In 1993, after a number of years around the airshow circuit, Vulcan XH558 was nearing the end of its flying life and needed a major service. The Ministry of Defence decided to sell the aircraft,
and when it was bought by the Bruntingthorpe Air Museum some feared its flying days were over. However, dedicated enthusiasts formed a team to refurbish the aircraft, and with the help of Marshall Aerospace, AV Roe, the original manufacturers, and others, the plane was restored and is back on the air display circuit.
