Grass roots groups, including two from the Times area, are sharing in a handout of almost �370,000 from the Lottery Awards for All programme in the East of England.

Community organisations across Norfolk, from air cadets to young boxers to bowlers, will get grants of between �1,000 and �10,000.

The local awards are: Screen-next-the-Sea (�6,050) and 1249 (Dereham) Squadron Air Training Corps (�6,500).

Others include Ingoldisthorpe Church Hall Committee, (�10,000), March Amateur Boxing Club (�9,985), Holme Hale Playing Field Trust, (�8,911), Terrington Memorial Bowls Club, (�6,698) Bodham Playing Field, (�5,968), Loose Ends, South Norfolk (�5,178), Indigo Foundation Norfolk, Norwich (�4,196), Barnby and North Cove Parents and Teachers Association, Waveney (�2,095), Watton (Loch Neaton) Bowls Club (�1,555) and Foulden Village Hall (�1,000).

Jonathan Clark, Big Lottery Fund head of region for the East of England, said: 'This month has seen community groups invest in the future by preserving the past and also by looking out for the health of children. From sports initiatives to restoration projects, 56 tremendous groups have worked hard to ensure communities are working together to reach their full potential. Well over �360,000 of Lottery funding is shared across the East of England this month.'

Awards for All is the small grants scheme administered by the Big Lottery Fund on behalf of Lottery good cause funders, Arts Council England, Big Lottery Fund, Heritage Lottery Fund and Sport England.
