A primary school has turned a page with the unveiling of its new library.

Astley Primary School is celebrating after the library was opened by Duncan Baker, MP for North Norfolk, on Friday, December 2.

The project was made possible by fundraising by the Friends of Astley, as well as donations from the Holt Society. It was also selected by Tesco in Sheringham as one of its chosen charities.

The school, in Melton Constable, near Holt, was also supported by Mr Baker, who visited last year.

He raised an additional £1,500 having selected the school as one of his good causes for his London Marathon run.

Jen Goakes, headteacher of Astley Primary, said: "Our dream was to create a relaxing and magical place where children and staff can embrace reading and, with the support of our fantastic local community, that is what we have achieved.

“A massive thank you goes to our Friends of Astley, our team of amazing staff and Duncan Baker for all their efforts and contributions."
