A mum was reduced to tears the first time she saw the bench in memory of her son.

Kyra Welch, whose eight-year-old son Kaiden died from heart failure in October 2021, was finally able to sit on the bench installed in his memory on March 31 at a small woodland in North Creake, near Fakenham - where the boy was raised.

Ms Welch thanked both Optima Metal Services, which donated a plaque and North Creake Parish Council’s support during the effort to place the bench.

It was opened alongside Stuart Coleman, a representative from the Althorp estate, which owns the land and allowed the bench to be placed there.

“I cried when I first saw the bench. It was so beautiful and turned out better than I could have expected,” Miss Welch said.

“To everyone who helped me, I’ll never be able to explain to any of them just how much it means to me.

“This means I now have somewhere I can be with Kaiden for the rest of my life.”
