A Norfolk Rotary club has covered the cost of a piece of medical equipment that will help save lives.

The Fakenham and District club hosted Lisa Drewry, the practice manager of The Fakenham Medical Practice, as they handed over a cheque that will pay for a replacement ECG machine.

Mrs Drewry said: “This machine will help save Fakenham lives.

“It's very kind of the club and we are extremely grateful to Rotary for covering the cost of this planned purchase.”

The machine looks at people’s heart rate, rhythm and electrical activity. It can help identify problems such as an irregular heartbeat. The practice completes an average of 10 ECGs per day.

The funds were raised over the last 12 months through a number of events raising a pot of £3,200, of which £1,680 was used to pay for the machine.

Tony Grover, president of the Fakenham and District Rotary Club, added: “We are really pleased to donate to the surgery this vital piece of diagnostic equipment which will help countless people.”
