As the coronation of King Charles III united the country, pupils from two Fakenham schools were working their town together.

Emma Cobb, a Year 2 teacher at Fakenham Infant and Nursery School, teamed up with Ruth Beard, a Fakenham Junior School Year 6 teacher, to run an art project in preparation for the historical event.

Year groups from each of the schools created a piece of artwork based on one of the countries in the Commonwealth, or an artist from overseas.Fakenham & Wells Times: Emma Cobb (left) with Matthew Brown, manager of The Original Factory Shop in FakenhamEmma Cobb (left) with Matthew Brown, manager of The Original Factory Shop in Fakenham (Image: Emma Cobb)

The artworks then went on show in the windows of town centre shops, forming a trail.

Mrs Cobb said: “Fakenham had such a great community spirit and we wanted to celebrate the King's coronation by bringing people together through the arts.”

“My hope was to bring the community together through the arts whilst celebrating with big town celebrations for King Charles III.”

The businesses which took part in the trail were J & D Papworth Butchers, Gatsby's Barbers, Flour & Bean, The Crown, The Original Factory Shop, Scent with love florist, Central Cinema, Taylors Coffee shop and Drifters fish and chips, as well as Fakenham Library.
