There are plans to transform a former town centre office into a home.

Void Architecture has applied to North Norfolk District Council on behalf of Quantum Developments to convert the property at Unit 5 Newmans Yard off Norwich Street, Fakenham, into a two-bedroom, two-bathroom dwelling.

One of the bedrooms would be on the ground floor and the other on a mezzanine level.

The Grade II listed building was formerly an office for Kett Country Cottages.

The building is located behind 9 Norwich Street, which this paper has covered extensively over the last four years, as NNDC served an urgent work notice on the building owner in 2021.

Councillor Liz Vickers, who represents Lancaster South ward, said she had no objection to the plan. In a submission to the council, she said: "It is in a courtyard setting with other residential buildings and doesn't face the main street.

"To note, it is a listed building and appears to be a back-to-back arrangement with
No 9 Norwich Street."
