Plans to build two new homes in a market town have been approved.

North Norfolk District Council has given the green light to plans submitted by G & L Homes Ltd on behalf of the applicant to build two homes with detached garages on Norwich Road, Fakenham, earlier this month.

This is the second time the site has had planning permission since 2020, with three owners looking to develop this site found near Fakenham Conservative Club.

In 2020, permission was given for six apartments - before it was sold to a new owner who resubmitted plans to build homes. That application was to build three dwellings before reducing the bid to two.

But that bid lacked support from locals and councillors, who were concerned over what they described as a ‘bottleneck’ road.

NNDC said in November that as part of the revised bid, the width of Norwich Road in front of the site would be increased by around 35 inches (90cm) and there would be space for a 4.6ft (1.4 metre) wide footpath.

The scheme was given permission with conditions including one that a noise survey must be carried out.
